This iteration of CS 347 focuses on the future of HCI. It connects core theories with modern research innovations, covering areas like ubiquitous computing, social computing, design tools, AI+HCI, and accessibility. This course involves significant reading and discussion and has prerequisites for CS or SymSys students.
How will the future of human-computer interaction evolve? This course equips students with the major animating theories of human-computer interaction, and connects those theories to modern innovations in research.
This is a 4-unit course. For undergraduates or masters students in CS or SymSys, CS147 or CS247 is a prerequisite. All graduate and PhD students from other departments are welcome. Graduate students with a unit cap may enroll for 3 units; the workload is the same.
Topics include ubiquitous computing, social computing, design tools+methods, AI+HCI, augmented and virtual reality, collaboration, and accessibility.
