Momentum

Momentum

Momentum is a vector quantity that is the product of an object's mass and velocity, and is conserved in closed systems. It is expressed in the SI unit kilogram metre per second (kg⋅m/s) and is related to position and force through Newton's second law of motion. Advanced formulations of classical mechanics allow for generalized momentum, which is applicable to quantum mechanics and other fields.
