Automation

Automation

Automation refers to the use of various technologies to minimize human intervention in processes, often through the use of machines and predetermined decision criteria. It can range from simple on-off control to complex multi-variable algorithms, and is used in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, aviation, shipping, and banking. While automation can lead to job displacement, it also creates new industries and jobs, and its benefits include labor savings, waste reduction, cost savings, and improvements in quality, accuracy, and precision.
