Responsive web design is an approach to web design that ensures web pages render well on a variety of devices and window sizes. It uses techniques such as fluid proportion-based grids, flexible images, and CSS3 media queries to adapt the layout to the viewing environment. It became more important with the rise of mobile device users, and Google's Mobilegeddon in 2015 boosted the page ranking of mobile-friendly sites. Responsive web design is an example of user interface plasticity.
