Sentinel lymph node

The sentinel lymph node is the first lymph node to be affected by a cancerous tumor. The sentinel node procedure involves identifying, removing, and analyzing this node to determine if the cancer has spread. If the sentinel node is found to contain cancer cells, further nodes may need to be removed for further analysis.
