Network Devices—Switches

Network switch

A network switch is a device that connects devices on a computer network by using packet switching to send data to the intended recipient. It operates at the data link layer of the OSI model and can also incorporate routing functionality at the network layer. Unlike repeater hubs, switches only forward data to the specific port connected to the intended device.
