Queueing theory is the mathematical study of waiting lines or queues, used to predict queue lengths and waiting times. It was first developed by Agner Krarup Erlang for the Copenhagen Telephone Exchange Company and has since been applied in various fields such as telecommunication, traffic engineering, computing, project management, and industrial engineering.
