Aliasing is an overlap of frequency components caused by sampling a signal at a rate below the Nyquist frequency. It can be avoided by applying low-pass filters or anti-aliasing filters before sampling, and suitable reconstruction filtering when restoring the sampled signal. Anti-aliasing techniques such as FXAA, multisample anti-aliasing, and supersampling can also be used to reduce aliasing in spatial signals.
