A decentralised application (DApp) is an application that operates autonomously on a decentralized computing system, such as a blockchain. Unlike traditional applications, DApps do not require human intervention and are not owned by any one entity. They distribute tokens to represent ownership and control of the application, and have been popularized by distributed ledger technologies like Ethereum or Cardano. DApps are used in various categories such as exchanges, games, finance, gambling, and more.
